To celebrate the release of author, journalist and creator Jess Bacon’s book I’m Just a Girl: How reclaiming girlhood redefines womanhood, we’ve collaborated on an ‘I’m Just a Girl’ t-shirt and tote. 
 
The design encapsulates some of the themes and motifs of Jess’ books and girlhood loves including film, music, pop culture, reading and the growing love of romantasy (or any love story written by a woman). 
 
Jess’ book explores what she coins ‘the second girlhood’ the pheneomnom in recent years of millennial and Gen-Z women buying back into girlhood nostalgia, as well as adopting the hobbies, sports, curiosities, fandoms, films, fashions and music they loved as a girl - or never truly got to express and explore. From Barbiemania to The Era’s Tour bolstering economies and The Devil Wear’s Prada 2’s recent release, girlhood nostalgia has become a hot commodity. But at a time when women’s rights are being rewritten, this reliance on girlhood is complicated. Is this resurgence of girlhood expressing the desire that women have to relive the wild, freedom, joy and safety they found as girls, or the patriarchy pacifying women with pretty pink packages that profits of that very desire?
